Housing Support Officer

You will be working as part of the housing support team, supporting up to 60individuals at one of our larger Temporary Accommodation schemes. Working aspart of a team and supporting individuals and households on site and throughoutShrewsbury. You will be providing targeted housing support to households whohave become homeless and placed into temporary accommodation. Workingalongside the Housing Options Team by supporting those in temporaryaccommodation to progress with their homeless case and to identify barriers suchas mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, employment and debtmanagement and empowering them in becoming tenancy ready and transitioningfrom temporary accommodation and into their own settled home within thecommunity and living as independently as possible.

We are looking for someone who can communicate effectively with vulnerablehouseholds from various backgrounds at a time of complete crisis. You must benaturally friendly, approachable, empathetic and professional. You will be happy to getstuck into the role and have the confidence to be the voice for individuals and familieswho have often disengaged with services due to their health or personalcircumstances., A strong team player often attending joint visits, challenging service while advocatingbut mostly work in isolation depending on your caseload, which you will be required tomanage and prioritise accordingly.The ideal candidate will be someone who has a person-centred approach andunderstands by achieving this, will also enable the business to achieve KeyPerformance Indicators (KPIs) and getting results for a successful move on for thehousehold.
