Housing First Worker

Closing date: 29 June 2025

Interview date: 17 July 2025

Contract type: Fixed Term for 18 months

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to lead on the delivery of Housing First in the Winchester District. Housing First is an innovative approach to supporting the most excluded and hard to reach clients who have a history of rough sleeping into independent and stable accommodation and supporting them to sustain this accommodation by helping to address the issues that led to homelessness.

This is a varied and challenging role for a resilient individual working with a caseload of up to 7 clients at any one time, providing intensive support by adopting a flexible, creative and personalised approach. The role will work directly with the clients and alongside established partner agencies to provide a multi-agency approach to ensuring the individuals can rebuild their lives.

Experience working in homelessness, housing, or support services is highly desirable, however, full training will be provided. If you can demonstrate excellent interpersonal, decision making and organisational skills but most importantly be able to work in a person-centred, trauma informed way this might be the opportunity for you to shape the future of lives and services in the Winchester District. The successful candidate will be required to be adaptable and flexible to respond to the needs of individuals.

You will need a full driving licence and access to your own transport to cover the travel requirements of the post, which will include travelling across the District to reach those in need of support. You will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) check for this role.

For further information about the role and requirements please see the Job Description. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity then this is the role for you. In return, we offer an excellent package of benefits including:

  • Employer paid health cash plan
  • Salary sacrifice scheme for cars and bikes
  • 26 days annual leave per year rising to 33 days - dependent on length of service
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • 13 days additional flexi leave per year (subject to operational requirements)
  • Option to buy up to 5 days additional annual leave
  • Free parking at any Winchester Park and Ride (during work hours)
  • Membership to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Discounts at a range of major high street brands and the two leisure centres in the district
  • Season Ticket loans
  • Excellent working environment
  • Support for continuous professional development
