Full Job Description
Dudley Council is looking for an enthusiastic Customer Service Apprentice to join our Homeless Prevention Response Team. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a rewarding career within local government, supporting some of the most vulnerable residents in our community while working towards a Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship. As a Customer Service Apprentice, you will be part of the front-line team supporting residents, partner agencies and colleagues across the Housing Service. You will develop valuable administrative, communication and customer service skills while receiving on-the-job training and support from experienced professionals. Your responsibilities will include:
- Answering telephone enquiries and taking messages.
- Providing excellent customer service to residents and partner agencies.
- Supporting the team with administrative tasks including letters, appointments and record keeping.
- Updating and maintaining case management systems.
- Processing and recording homelessness approaches.
- Signposting customers to appropriate services and support.
- Collecting and recording information for performance monitoring and government returns.
- Working closely with Housing Advice Assistants and other service areas.

- Has strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Has good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Is organised, reliable and committed to providing high-quality service.
- Demonstrates empathy, respect and understanding when dealing with customers from diverse backgrounds.
