Join Our Team as a Hospice Receptionist - Be the Heart of a Warm and Welcoming Space
At St Catherine's Hospice, we're looking for a kind-hearted, empathetic, and organised individual to become the first friendly face that greets every visitor and caller. As our Receptionist, you'll play a vital role in creating a calm and comforting atmosphere for patients, families, volunteers, and staff - often during some of life's most sensitive moments.
This role is ideal for someone who is not only professional and composed under pressure but who also brings genuine warmth and empathy to every interaction. If you understand the power of a smile, a listening ear, and a gentle word, we'd love to hear from you.
What We're Looking For:
- A caring and compassionate approach to supporting people in emotionally delicate situations
- Previous experience in reception or front-of-house roles, with excellent face-to-face and telephone communication skills
- Strong customer service skills with a calm, confident, and reassuring manner
- Ability to empathise with patients, families, and visitors, providing comfort and understanding
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience handling payments and knowledge of Gift Aid (desirable)
- A genuine appreciation for working with and alongside volunteers
We also offer a range of meaningful benefits:
- Free, ample parking in the beautiful surroundings of St Catherine's Park
- Generous annual leave: 36 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays)
- An additional wellbeing day to celebrate your birthday (or nearest working day)
- Access to training and development opportunities
- A competitive pension scheme
- Eligibility to apply for a Blue Light Card, offering a wide range of discounts
- Free, confidential employee assistance programme (including counselling support)
