Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the busy Housing Team, who are working hard to deliver the homelessness prevention service effectively. Hertsmere is a non-stock holding authority and as such faces significant challenges in meeting local housing needs. You will contribute to developing the service and have opportunities to carry out your own ideas and initiatives to meet the housing needs within Hertsmere.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a good knowledge of housing and associated legalisation. You will need to be organised and methodical to manage a complex and varied work load. You will need a positive attitude and caring approach towards customers. You will have excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills to find solutions for those facing housing problems. The Homelessness Prevention role will join the small team of officers pro-actively preventing and relieving homelessness. The ideal candidate will have suitable relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in a housing related environment.
The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week). Benefits include:

- Local government pension scheme
- Flexi-Leave - accrue extra hours & exchange for up to 2 days leave per month
- Free gym membership
- Cycle schemes (Cycle to Work Scheme and free Beryl Bike rides for staff)
- Free wellbeing benefits (such as lunchtime yoga, flu jabs, health MOT)
- Employee Assistance Programme
