Full Job Description

As a Home Safety Technician, you will deliver person-centred Home Safety Visits across Devon and Somerset, helping residents identify and reduce fire and wellbeing risks in their homes. Working closely with partner agencies, healthcare professionals, local authorities, and emergency service colleagues you will;

  • Carry out holistic home safety visit and risk assessments.
  • Provide practical fire safety advice, education and interventions
  • Install and maintain fire safety equipment and bespoke risk-reduction solutions where appropriate.
  • Support vulnerable individuals through referrals, signposting and partnership working.
  • Contribute to safeguarding activity and multi-agency approaches to reducing risk.
  • Manage your own workload and maintain accurate records and assessments.
  • This is a varied and rewarding role that combines community engagement, problem-solving, partnership working, and safeguarding.

  • Can communicate confidently and sensitively with a wide range of people.
  • Is skilled at building positive relationships and working collaboratively with partners.
  • Can assess risks, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
  • Is organised, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
  • Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check., The successful candidates must have the right to work in the UK before commencing employment., 1. Proven experience and ability to work flexibly as a member of a team with minimal supervision, and on own initiative. 2. Ability to engage with vulnerable groups and developing it through learning and training events. 3. Ability to use a problem-solving approach to systematically and effectively assess / complete work tasks and projects. 4. Good working knowledge of the risk assessment process and applying suitable risk reduction measures. 5. Sound knowledge of appropriate legislation, specifically; The Care Act 2014, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Act 2006. 6. Ability to travel to all areas within Devon and Somerset and, if required, further afield.
