Full Job Description
As a Home Learning Practitioner, you will work closely with families to promote positive home learning environments that support children's language, communication, play, literacy, numeracy, physical development and emotional wellbeing.
Working across Family Hubs, community settings, educational settings and family homes, you will deliver evidence-based interventions and practical support that helps parents and carers become confident in their role as their child's first and most important educator.
You will be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary workforce, working collaboratively with health professionals, early years providers, schools, SEND services and community partners to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.
Enfield council is committed to giving every child the best possible start in life. Enfield Council's Best Start Family Hubs aim to provide integrated, preventative and inclusive support for families with children aged 0-5 years. A strong Home Learning Environment (HLE) is a key factor in improving children's cognitive, language, social and emotional development and supporting school readiness, leading to improved good levels of development (GLD). This exciting role provides an opportunity to work directly with families, empowering parents and carers to support their children's learning, development and school readiness from the very beginning.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and skilled practitioner with experience of working with families and young children aged 0 to 5 years. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the importance of the Home Learning Environment in improving outcomes for children, alongside knowledge of child development, early learning and school readiness. They will be able to build positive, trusting relationships with parents, carers and partner agencies, and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Confidence in delivering both group-based and one-to-one support across a range of settings is essential, as is a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities. We are seeking someone who is committed to inclusion, reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families, and who works effectively as part of a
multi-agency team. Experience of supporting children with emerging developmental needs or SEND would be an advantage.
Enfield's Social Care Centre of Excellence confirms our commitment to creating and maintaining an environment for new and existing staff to be the best and deliver high quality social work to our most vulnerable children and young people. It brings our recruitment, professional development and support into the one portal for social care staff to see what we have to offer and how we are supporting them to continue to learn and develop on a professional basis.
