Full Job Description
The Role: We're looking for two Senior Highways Maintenance Technicians to join our South Worcestershire Design & Build Team based at Newland Depot. You'll be part of a friendly and experienced team delivering highway maintenance schemes across Worcestershire, helping keep the county's roads safe and well maintained. The role offers a real mix of office and site based work, from planning resurfacing and patching schemes to site inspections, traffic management planning, contractor liaison and helping deliver specialist programmes such as surface dressing. Working closely with Engineers, depot colleagues and our term service contractor, you'll help take schemes from initial investigation through to delivery on site. No two days are the same and you'll play an important role in responding to day to day highway maintenance issues, supporting emergency responses and helping deliver improvement works across the network. This is a great opportunity for someone with highways maintenance or civil engineering experience who enjoys practical problem solving and wants to develop their technical knowledge and experience within a supportive team environment. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of maintenance activities and work on projects that have a direct and visible impact on local communities across Worcestershire. The work we do at Worcestershire County Council makes a real difference to residents, businesses and communities across the county. From improving safety and keeping the network moving to supporting economic growth and responding to emergency situations, the work delivered by the Design & Build Team has a direct and visible impact every day.
While you are working hard, doing your best for the people of Worcestershire, we will do our best to provide an environment that supports and inspires you. Here are some of the top reasons why you should work here.

In short, what we do makes a difference to people's lives! With so many ways to contribute, the chances are we have a job opportunity that's the career for you.
- Great Holiday Entitlement: As well as bank holidays, you'll get 26 days paid holiday (pro rata for part-time staff). This goes up to 31 days when you have been with us for 5 years. If you get more than 26 days where you work now, don't worry because if you join us without a break, we'll match your holiday up to 31 days. If you're successful and want to take advantage of this do let us know!
