Full Job Description
We're looking for a Highway Inspector to join our West Northamptonshire and North Northamptonshire team based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. As a Highway Inspector, you'll play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing highway network, helping to identify defects, prioritise repairs, and support the delivery of essential highway maintenance services., Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire - hybrid workingHours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to usWe are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role
What will you be responsible for?
As a Highway Inspector, you'll be working within the Asset Management and Professional Services team, supporting the safe and effective management of the local highway network through proactive inspections, defect identification, and maintenance planning.Your day to day will include:
-Carrying out walked and driven highway safety inspections in line with the Highway Safety Inspection Manual and the Code of Practice: Well-Managed Highway Infrastructure
-Recording defects, asset condition data, and inspection outcomes using asset management systems
-Preparing work packs and supporting the delivery of highway maintenance and defect rectification activities
-Managing and delivering a planned programme of inspections across the highway network each month
-Promoting a positive safety culture while supporting an inclusive and collaborative working environment
Holds GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) and has knowledge of highway maintenance, civil engineering, infrastructure, or a related industry
-Has practical experience working within highways, construction, utilities, asset management, or infrastructure environments
-Has experience carrying out highway inspections, asset inspections, or condition surveys, or is keen to develop these skills through training and ongoing professional development
-Builds strong working relationships with clients, local authorities, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver excellent service outcomes
-Demonstrates strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to health and safety, quality, and customer service excellence
