Highly Specialist Pharmacist, Surgery

The surgery team has a fantastic new opportunity available for permanent senior specialist position. The postholder will provide specialist input into pain services, oversee clinical pharmacy services to the inpatient surgical wards as well as being responsible for clinical pharmacy services to the Dental, Behcet's, Ophthalmology and Oral Medicine Directorate.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking pharmacist eager to develop their specialist clinical skills, contribute to and lead the pharmacy team and wider MDT in these forward-thinking, high-impact, complex clinical environments., The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as a Highly Specialist Pharmacist in Surgery, Pain & Specialist Services to deliver patient focused, quality care, based primarily at the Royal London Hospital. Their primary role will be to look after clinical and operational pharmacy services to the Pain Service, Dental Hospital, Behcet's and Oral Medicine as well as the inpatient surgical wards at The Royal London Hospital alongside the Lead Pharmacist, Surgery and Anaesthetics. They will have a team of rotational foundation and senior pharmacists and medicines management pharmacy technicians to support them.

The post holder will be expected to promote the responsible, safe and cost-effective prescribing of medicines within surgery, peri-operative care and pain to optimise clinical outcomes, minimise adverse reactions and improve medicines safety. The post holder will be supporting the Lead Pharmacist, Surgery and Anaesthetics to lead a team of staff in the delivery of high quality clinical, professional, and technical pharmacy service to all clinical areas and specialities within the division.
