Highly Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and innovative physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary paediatric therapy team. You will be part of a multidisciplinary paediatric team and work closely alongside the Occupational Therapy and Speech and language therapy teams.
You will take the lead in coordinating and providing a highly specialist physiotherapy service to school aged children with physical difficulties, and Special Educational Needs (SEN) attending Harrow mainstream and special schools (primary age). Additionally the post holder will coordinate the DCD service supporting other staff and working with colleagues in Occupational Therapy to provide assessment and treatment programmes.
The post-holder will provide support and line manage junior colleagues working in these areas in collaboration with other senior staff ensuring supervision, appraisal and development., To provide highly specialist physiotherapy for a complex caseload of:
Children and young people with Neurodisability 0-19 including mainstream schools and special schools
Children and young people with DCD
To manage own workload and work as an autonomous practitioner as part of the MDT providing specialist advice to other healthcare professionals, social care colleagues, more junior physiotherapists, student and educational staff including teaching and training.
To provide line management to Physiotherapists and Assistants ensuring supervision, appraisal and development.
He/she will be expected to work collaboratively children/young people (CYP), parents/carers and with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services in planning and delivery of services.
He/she will be responsible for planning and delivering highly specialist training to other PT's, professionals and parents/carers on all aspects of Physiotherapy relating to special needs
He/she will provide clinical education and training to physiotherapy students.

Support is also provided through regular supervision sessions, peer support meetings and the staff appraisal programme.
Harrow has one of the largest Paediatric Therapy Teams in North West London. You will work alongside colleagues in Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy, providing both acute and community services in the London Borough of Harrow. We are a well-established, dynamic team working collaboratively with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services.
You will be joining and welcomed into a diverse therapy team who actively promote and advocate for equality and diversity., To manage a highly specialist caseload of children aged 0-19 with special needs including physical difficulties and SEN, as well as those with profound and multiple learning difficulties within special schools and mainstream schools
This includes:
Gaining appropriate consent
Comprehensive highly specialist assessment and diagnosis of individual children with diverse and complex presentations/multi-pathologies using range of assessment tools (GMFM, ABC)
Planning, delivering and evaluating a range of highly specialist treatment programmes from a range of specialist clinical options, weighing up the implications of each option and presenting evidence to medical/other colleagues accordingly, in particular in the area of special needs, for school aged children
Referring on to other services/professionals as appropriate including other members of the MDT, medical staff, wheelchair services and Tertiary Centres
Using highly specialist knowledge and demonstrating advanced skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management and wider issues relating to service provision for school aged CYP with physical disabilities
Carry out risk assessments and implementing recommendations such as hoisting
Working in partnership with CYP parents/carers, and others around individual case management
Writing reports reflecting highly specialist knowledge of school aged children with SEN providing specific advice for Education and Health Care Plans.
Analyse clinical and social information from a range of sources and integrate into assessment and development of care/treatment plan.
