Full Job Description
This is an 8A post, but we would welcome applicants who are looking for a B7 to 8A development post in a supportive context- an opportunity for either a newly qualified band 7 clinical psychologist with potential career progression potential, or an established band 8a clinical psychologist to join a small team of psychological and occupational therapists.
You will be responsible for implementing psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions for older people in the community, and contribute to the wider team's psychological understandings of people's difficulties through consultation, supervision and training.
Located in the Cathedral city of Peterborough that has a diverse community in an urban and rural setting. The service provides high quality care to people aged 65 and above, who are experiencing the symptoms of moderate to severe mental health difficulties, either affective or psychosis. The scope of the service includes treating people with dementia post diagnostically or with specialist neuro psychological assessments to inform diagnosis. You would be part of a friendly and well established multi-disciplinary team with a range of professionals contributing to the excellent care of the people that we support. Recovery principles are embedded in our work and we aim to support people to reach their potential by facilitating hope, empowering autonomy and developing meaning and purpose in life., Supporting and developing psychologists within the team is of upmost importance to us. We encourage our psychologists to develop their skills and knowledge with CPD opportunities. We believe that research is central to the development and maintenance of effective teams and interventions. Our psychologists have close links with the Doctoral Clinical Psychology course at the University of East Anglia and routinely place their trainees within our service. A number of psychologists within the trust have completed 'Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research & Care' fellowships (CLAHRC). Clinical psychologists provide important input into the strategic development of services and there are future opportunities to engage in leadership development programmes.
We have a commitment to research and service audits in the field of mental health and the team is currently collaborating on a number of interesting projects.
Relevant support and experience will be provided to ensure that successful newly qualified applicants will be able to transition into an 8a clinical psychology post after demonstrating significant post-qualifying experience and meeting the requirements for the role.
