Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work within aseptic services at Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. You will be joining our dynamic aseptic team at an exciting and challenging time in developing a first-class aseptic service. The aseptic unit is licensed and provides a comprehensive service to the NCA sites including chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, enzyme products and parenteral nutrition. It also supports research services through the provision of clinical trials, including Phase 1 and Gene therapy trials. The unit is currently in the process of implementing BDCato for the provision of parenteral nutrition and will look at installing a compounder shortly after. Salford Royal Hospital is a national centre for adult metabolic diseases and intestinal failure meaning the aseptic work is specialised thus creating a stimulating and rewarding post for the successful candidate.,
- Acting as an authorised Pharmacist for the aseptic unit including the day to day running of the service, product release and quality assurance.
- Supervising the other pharmacists working in the aseptic department.
- Managing the initial training and reaccreditation of pharmacists working in the aseptic service.
- Be named as a releasing officer on the MS Licence.
- Work as part of the Quality Assurance team to: - Manage and maintain several aspects of the quality management system. - Manage controlled documents including procedures, worksheets and batch production records. - Participate in departmental audits, taking responsibility for developing and implementing action plans in response to audit findings. - Investigate deviations, identifying root causes and suggesting corrective and preventative actions to prevent a reoccurrence. - Participating in departmental meetings including quality meetings and product quality review.
You will have considerable experience within aseptic services and a good understanding of pharmaceutical quality systems. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain as a practicing pharmacist and have a post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (or have equivalent documented aseptic experience).
