Opened in November 2024 in Tokers Green, Reading, Aurora Rowan School supports children aged 5-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), moderate to severe learning needs, and associated challenges. - Understand the importance of love, security, creativity, and involvement in a child's development, We are currently looking to recruit an experienced HLTA to be our Pastoral / Family Liaison and to join our expanding team. You will be supporting the Assistant Head - Pastoral in providing a holistic approach to the welfare of pupils and their families and to facilitate and encourage parent and carer engagement in the school. All of our education is through play based learning that will always be guided by and built around each individual and their strengths, challenges, and interests, combining elements of different approaches and frameworks as appropriate.,
- Take responsibility for safeguarding, pupil welfare, attendance and family engagement, ensuring all practice aligns with school policies and statutory requirements.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families and external agencies to support wellbeing, engagement and educational progress.
- Provide advice, guidance and practical support to families, helping to overcome barriers to learning and promote positive outcomes for children.
- Monitor attendance, identify concerns, implement support plans and liaise with parents, staff and external professionals to improve attendance and punctuality.
- Coordinate and contribute to multi-agency meetings, preparing reports, maintaining accurate records and ensuring effective communication between all stakeholders.
- Support pupils through targeted interventions, nurture work and pupil voice activities, promoting emotional wellbeing and personal development.
- Maintain confidential records relating to safeguarding, attendance, behaviour, incidents and family engagement, ensuring accurate monitoring and reporting.
- Support school transitions, including working with feeder schools and families to ensure successful pupil admissions and transfers.
- Work collaboratively with school staff to evaluate interventions, track pupil progress and contribute to planning and reviewing support strategies.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including events, enrichment activities, duties and school improvement initiatives.
- Take responsibility for a designated area of school provision, planning and delivering activities that support pupils' personal, social and emotional development. - The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
- GCSE pass above C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) in English and Maths
- Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/ASD
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
- Experience working within education or social care
- Experience of working within a multi-cultural, inclusive setting
