Full Job Description
Manor High School is seeking an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support the development and delivery of our SEND intervention programme. Working closely with the SENCO, Deputy SENCO and SEMH HLTA, the successful candidate will lead high-quality literacy, language and numeracy interventions, evaluate their impact and help shape provision for pupils with additional needs. This role offers the opportunity to work independently with pupils and small groups, contribute to whole-school inclusion and play a key role in securing positive academic and personal outcomes for young people with SEND. We are looking for a proactive, reflective practitioner with strong communication skills and a passion for helping every pupil succeed. The HLTA will work under the direction and supervision of the SENCO and Deputy SENCO to develop, plan, deliver and evaluate evidence-based language, literacy and numeracy interventions for individual pupils and small groups. The postholder will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating pupil progress, maintaining accurate records, and adapting provision to ensure interventions meet identified needs and improve outcomes. The HLTA will deliver specified programmes and learning activities to pupils without the continuous presence of a teacher as part of an agreed timetable. They will take responsibility for advancing pupils' learning, promoting independence, and supporting the implementation of individual support plans, including SEND Support Plans and EHCP outcomes where appropriate. The role will involve:
- Planning, delivering and evaluating literacy, language and numeracy interventions.
- Teaching and supervising individual pupils and small groups, often within intervention spaces away from the classroom.
- Assessing and recording pupil progress and reporting outcomes to the SENCO and Deputy SENCO.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, the SEMH HLTA, pastoral staff and external professionals to support pupils' learning and wider development.
- Supporting the development of inclusive teaching strategies and reasonable adjustments across the school.
- Promoting pupil engagement, confidence, independence and successful reintegration into mainstream lessons.
- Contributing to the review and evaluation of intervention programmes and SEND provision.
- Undertaking additional responsibilities as required, including occasional Teaching Assistant duties to support the effective operation of the SEND department.
The successful candidate will be an experienced practitioner with strong literacy and language knowledge, excellent communication skills and a commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
