Full Job Description
John Rankin School is seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support high standards of achievement, learning and student wellbeing. This role will complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. The postholder will support, consolidate and develop students' learning in specific subject areas under the direction of a named teacher.
The role will involve planning, preparing and delivering appropriately challenging learning activities for individuals, small groups or whole classes. The successful candidate will produce and adapt learning resources, schemes of work and lesson materials to meet students' needs, support literacy, numeracy and basic skills programmes, and use ICT effectively to support learning and engagement.
The successful candidate will:
· Monitor, assess, record and report students' attainment and progress, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to intervention activities that consolidate and extend classroom learning.
· They will support positive behaviour and engagement through consistent application of the school behaviour policy, contributing to a calm, purposeful and safe learning environment., Working for our Trust means contributing to something larger by supporting the education and life chances of children and young people every day.
· Have Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification or experience, alongside a Level 2 qualification or equivalent in English and mathematics.
· They will have knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum, the ability to plan and lead learning activities, and the communication and interpersonal skills needed to work constructively with students, colleagues, families and external professionals.
· They will be calm, caring, flexible and committed to safeguarding, equality and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
