About the Team
Since March 2016, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) has been a leader in sanctions, a crucial element of foreign and national security policy. OFSI acts as the designated authority for financial sanctions within the United Kingdom. It advises the enforcement of UN and UK financial sanctions and domestic terrorist asset freezing. The office provides a high-quality service to private and third sectors, delivering mentorship to assist with legal adherence. We work closely with law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and policy teams across Government. This ensures that measures related to financial sanctions are well understood and effectively applied. Our diverse and motivating team builds an outstanding environment to expand your experience and acquire new skills while addressing some of the UK’s highest-profile international issues. The position for a Higher Intelligence Analyst is in the Threat Assessment Branch.
About the Job
In this role, you will carry out a variety of tasks and responsibilities, including:
- Developing core intelligence products to advise a cross-Government strategic approach. This includes analysing and producing reports on the sanctions landscape. The reports break down issues and risks by regime, sector, transaction type, and payment route. Specific situational reports are also produced.
- Developing processes that support a dynamic threat assessment. This assessment produces regular and ad hoc intelligence reports on current and future threats. These reports advise operational strategy using various data sources. Reviewing and establishing systems for sharing strategic intelligence with other Government departments and enforcement partners at all security levels.
- Identifying gaps and opportunities in intelligence to inform OFSI intelligence development and facilitate proactive prevention and enforcement of breaches.
- Linking with intelligence analytical partners across Whitehall to embed standard procedures and ensure that financial sanctions requirements are included in threat assessments, risk response planning, country action plans, and other analytical products.
The successful applicant will handle evaluation and reporting connected to financial limitations. Their work will inform OFSI and the Government’s strategy for sanctions implementation. The Threat Assessment branch plays a pivotal role in crafting OFSI and HM Government’s operational approach to sanctions implementation. Through high-quality analysis and reporting, the team supports a more intelligence-led, proactive approach to compliance and licensing within OFSI.
About You
You have strong analytical skills and can develop and analyse information from multiple sources. You think creatively and independently to reach conclusions, even when data is incomplete. Your interpersonal skills are excellent, allowing you to simplify sophisticated details into clear recommendations. You can explain and defend these recommendations both in writing and verbally. You demonstrate the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external collaborators. You ensure clear communication, teamwork, and the successful achievement of shared goals. You handle competing priorities well and work efficiently under pressure, delivering high-quality results within tight timescales.
Some of the Benefits our people love!
- 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), plus 8 public holidays and the King’s birthday (unless you have a legacy arrangement as an existing Civil Servant). Additionally, we operate flexitime systems, allowing employees to take up to an additional 2 days off each month
