Heating Engineer (Gas)

As a Heating Engineer (Gas), you will play a vital role in maintaining the mechanical and gas engineering services that support Durham University's diverse estate.

You will undertake a broad range of planned and reactive maintenance, repairs and minor installation works across academic, residential and commercial buildings, helping to ensure essential systems operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with all relevant regulations.

Your work will contribute directly to providing a safe, comfortable and reliable environment for staff, students and visitors while supporting the University's teaching, research and wider activities.

As part of the Estates and Facilities Directorate's directly employed maintenance team, you will use your specialist gas engineering knowledge and practical expertise to diagnose faults, resolve technical issues and maintain critical building services infrastructure.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and customers across the University, delivering a professional and customer-focused service while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and workmanship.

You will also contribute to service improvements, support infrastructure projects and help uphold the University's values of commitment to excellence, integrity, collaboration, inclusivity and citizenship.

The Estates and Facilities Directorate provides essential services to Durham University and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various campuses.
