Full Job Description

The Healthy Communities Team is at the heart of Public Health delivery within Redcar & Cleveland, working directly with communities to tackle health inequalities and improve outcomes for local people. As a Healthy Communities Coordinator, you will build strong relationships with community organisations, schools, healthcare providers, local businesses, and other stakeholders to understand the challenges facing communities and identify opportunities for positive change. You will lead and support a range of community-based projects and initiatives aligned to key Public Health priorities, including prevention, mental wellbeing, healthy environments, health protection, and supporting vulnerable populations. Using a community-centred approach, you will facilitate engagement activities, gather local insight, coordinate partnerships, and help communities develop sustainable solutions that improve health and wellbeing. The role requires excellent communication and relationship-building skills, an ability to manage multiple projects, and a commitment to empowering communities to influence decisions that affect their lives. You will work across a variety of settings, from community centres and schools to local events and strategic partnership meetings, ensuring that community voices help shape local services and programmes.   • Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, and partner organisations.
  • Identify local health and wellbeing needs through engagement, research, and community insight.
  • Develop, coordinate, and support community-led projects and initiatives.
  • Facilitate partnership working to address local priorities and reduce health inequalities.
  • Promote Public Health campaigns, services, and opportunities within communities.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on project outcomes and community impact.
  • Support the development of resilient, connected, and empowered communities.

    Experience of community engagement, development, or partnership working.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple stakeholders.
  • Understanding of health inequalities and the wider determinants of health.
  • Commitment to improving outcomes for local communities and residents.
  • Able to build projects based around the Appreciative Inquiry model
