Full Job Description
We are looking for compassionate and motivated Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers to join our dedicated team on the Maple Unit at Rugby St Cross. Maple Unit is a specialist Day Unit providing care and support to patients undergoing oncology and haematology treatments.You will play a vital role in supporting patients undergoing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), working closely alongside nursing staff, medical teams, and outpatient clinics to deliver safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care.,
- Support patients attending the chemotherapy unit for SACT treatments, ensuring comfort, dignity, and wellbeing throughout their visit.
- Undertake venepuncture and ECG recordings .
- Assist registered nurses with clinical duties, including observations (e.g. blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and specimen collection.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families during treatment journeys.
- Prepare clinical areas, ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and ready for patient care.
- Assist in patient flow, including escorting patients to and from treatment areas and clinics.
- Work collaboratively with the nursing team, medical staff, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
- Support chemotherapy clinics, assisting with patient assessments, documentation, and clinic flow.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with Trust policies.
- Promote infection prevention and control in accordance with local guidelines.
