Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Science Practitioner or Scientist to join our friendly Neurophysiology team at the NNUH. Our team of 7 Scientists, 3 Consultants, a Specialist Registrar and 2 administrative staff help around 5500 patients a year, of all ages & abilities, suffering from a wide range of disorders The scientists provide a full modality of investigations;

  • Video-EEG; routine, sleep, portable, ambulatory and Telemetry
  • Nerve Conduction Studies; for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Ulnar and Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Evoked Potentials; VEP, ERG (pattern, flash & multi-focal), EOG (all to ISCEV standard) and SEP
  • Intra Operative Monitoring for Orthopaedic Spinal Surgery
  • The department operates from 8AM to 6PM on weekdays; there is no evening, weekend or on-call work (only occasional late working for long IOM cases), and we can accommodate flexible working patterns, such as a four-day week., Our vacancy is open to applicants at band 6 (Healthcare Science Practitioner) or band 7 (Healthcare Scientist). Both roles perform all routine investigations (all EEG's and NCS for CTS, UMN & PN), along with contribution to the daily running of the department and training of junior team members. The band 7 role also incorporates our specialist investigations; VEP, ERG, EOG, SEPs and IOM. If employed at band 6, there will be the opportunity to be trained to become proficient in these specialist investigations to reach the band 7 position.
