We have a brand new and exciting opportunity within our Paediatric team. Previously we have only been able to offer Band 3 Healthcare assistant roles but following a recent review of our staffing we are very excited to welcome some Band 2's to our team!
If you aspire to work with children and their families and are passionate about creating a positive patient experience then this is the role for you! We are looking for someone with fantastic communication skills that can help us as a team in supporting our patients and families in what can be one of the most challenging times in their lives.

We can for patients under a range of specialities including Paediatric medical, plastic surgery, ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat), MAXFAX (Maxillofacial), Orthopaedic, Surgical, Urology, and Gynaecology. With such a varied range of patient ages and specialities it is safe to say no two days are the same on Paediatrics!, As you would expect, we do work on a shift basis - our patients need our care and attention 24 hours a day 7 days a week so everyone gets involved working different shifts to ensure our patients receive the best care. Typically, you would usually work a mixture of 12 hr days and nights and weekend cover.
As part of our team you would be responsible for providing a range of personal care duties for patients under the guidance and supervision of the team leader/nurse in charge including: assisting patients with personal hygiene, toileting, use of continence aids e.g. changing nappies, continence pads, measuring patient input and output, moving and handling, use of mobility appliances, correct patient positioning, ensuring patient safety and observing patients for changes in condition whilst undertaking personal care duties.
To support the productive operation of the ward environment by undertaking a range of non-clinical activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Assisting with patient menu's, and meal times.
You may also be required to offer parents/carers respite by sitting with children/young people whilst their parents/carers take some time away from the ward.
We expect for you to act at all times in a manner that upholds the Trust values working as part of the ward team to ensure that patients and their families receive excellent care with compassion.
We have 10000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our service users. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You'll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you'd never have done. You'll learn about interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.
You'll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
We are a forward thinking team and have a number of exciting developments planned, we value the voice of staff as well as patients and there will be opportunities for involvement in shaping the future of the unit. Our priority is patient safety and experience and we believe this is achieved by creating a positive experience for staff in the workplace.
