Healthcare Assistant - Hospice

The postholder will support the registered nursing team in providing care and support to our patients on the Inpatient Unit at our Hospice. This role offers excellent opportunity for you to develop and enhance your healthcare skills and experience within palliative and end of life care, working within our Inpatient Unit. 30 hours per week - to be worked flexibly including weekends, bank holidays, evenings/nights

Main duties of the job, Our Healthcare Assistants support the registered nursing team in providing the care and support to our patients on the Inpatient Unit at our Hospice. Working as part of the designated care team, they support the registered nurses in promoting and providing patient centred care, ensuring at all times the comfort, dignity and privacy of the patients in our care., You will be required to deliver a high standard of direct patient care, assisting the patient in all activities of daily living, with both direct and indirect supervision as delegated by the qualified nurse., Promote a patient centred approach to care delivery by assisting patients in all daily living activities, as required by the nursing team and the patients care requirements. Ensure patient comfort, dignity and privacy is maintained at all times and report any concerns to the nursing team. Assist in the monitoring of patients blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, peak flow and oxygen saturation on completion of the internal training day and competency pack. Obtain specimens of body fluids as requested by the qualified nurse on completion of the internal training day and competency pack Assist in emergency situations, following appropriate training. Escort patients to hospital and other appointments. You will be qualified to Level 2 Health and Social Care Certificate and have previous care experience. The role will be part of a dedicated team of professionals, who will also be able to work under their own initiative to ensure the highest standard of care. A can-do attitude with strong communication skills will be required.,
