Full Job Description
Please note: this is a FlexiBank role working on an 'as and when required' basis; you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff during periods of annual leave or absence.
WORKING HOURS: FlexiBank shifts allocated as and when required
HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT - FLEXIBANK
Reporting to the Outpatient Manager, the successful Healthcare Assistant will undertake the following roles and responsibilities:
o Support RGNs in the implementation of an agreed plan of care with the patient.
o Help promote and maintain a caring, supportive environment focused on meeting the needs of the patient/relatives/carer, working collaboratively
o with other departments to achieve this.
o Look after the physical comfort of patients, for example helping them with activities of daily living.
o Take basic observations such as blood pressure and temperature, height and weight, utilising the early warning score system as per hospital policy and escalate appropriately to the trained nurse.
o Listen and talk to patients, helping them to feel supported and safe.
o Assist with keeping the department clean and tidy, cleaning of equipment, adhering to infection prevention and control policy and hospital procedures at all times.
o Keep supplies and equipment in order, assisting in the maintenance of stock levels.
o Maintain contemporaneous patient records including patient pathways and the relevant IT reporting systems are up-to-date and accurate ensuring countersigned by a trained nurse.
o Chaperone when required.
o Participate in basic wound care management as required.
o Deal with any patient/relative complaints at the time if possible however escalate to appropriate member of staff if need be., One Hatfield Hospital is Hertfordshire's newest private hospital and has the very latest technology ensuring that our operating theatres provide patients and employees with the very best environment to keep them safe and free from infection.

o NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent preferred.
o Phlebotomy Training (Essential)
EXPERIENCE:
o Ability to learn and develop
o Pre-assessment Healthcare experience in a hospital environment
SKILLS:
o Caring, patient and customer focused
o Basic computer skills
o Comprehensive written and verbal communication skills
DESIRABLES:
o Experience in the private sector
o Competence in the following areas: phlebotomy, venapuncture and undertaking ECGs.
o Enthusiasm for cross functional working within different departments.
