Due to the retirement of our long-standing postholder, Durham Sixth Form Centre is seeking to recruit an exceptional Health & Wellbeing Lead to join our outstanding team. At our Centre, the physical and mental wellness of our students is the foundation upon which their academic success is built. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality support for our post-16 learners., As a pivotal lead professional in student wellbeing, you will embody the school's values by fostering a culture of care, safety, and mutual respect. You will be directly responsible for delivering essential first aid, supporting our mental health agenda, and managing the healthcare needs of our students. What makes this role exciting?

  • First Line of Care: Act as the lead first responder for the Centre, providing immediate first aid and support to students and staff when they need it most.
  • Champion Mental Health: Work directly with the Senior Mental Health Lead to deliver our wellbeing agenda, ensuring students have the emotional resilience to thrive.
  • Specialist Oversight: Take ownership of medical infrastructure and policies, ensuring students with medical conditions have an equitable and safe experience.
  • Collaborative Mission: Join a team of skilled professionals-including Progress Tutors, Pastoral Support Managers, and the School Counsellor-to ensure every student receives holistic guidance.
  • Build Partnerships: Serve as a vital bridge between the school, parents, and external health professionals to coordinate essential care.
  • We are looking for someone who:
  • Brings hands-on medical or first aid expertise and a deep understanding of healthcare protocols.
  • Is a "calm port in a storm," able to think on their feet and remain a steady presence during emergencies or periods of student distress.
  • Communicates with empathy and absolute confidentiality, maintaining precise medical records.
  • Demonstrates a proactive spirit with a genuine conviction to make a difference in the lives of young adults.
