Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to provide expert, hands-on leadership across a complex, multi-site organisation in Sussex. This is a key role acting as the organisation's competent person for Health & Safety, ensuring full statutory compliance while embedding a positive, proactive safety culture across operational and frontline services. You will work closely with senior leaders, managers and staff to manage risk effectively, investigate incidents, provide assurance, and support continuous improvement across Health & Safety systems and governance Key Responsibilities
- Lead on Health & Safety compliance and governance across multiple sites
- Act as the organisation's Health & Safety subject-matter expert
- Manage risk assessments, audits, incident reporting and investigations (including RIDDOR)
- Analyse H&S data and provide reports and assurance to senior stakeholders
- Review and update Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Support and deliver Health & Safety training and awareness initiatives
- Liaise with external regulators and auditors as required
NEBOSH qualification (Diploma or equivalent) - CMIOSH or working towards chartership
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Proven experience in a senior H&S role, ideally within healthcare or a complex environment
- Confident stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to travel across East & West Sussex (own vehicle required) Desirable
- NHS or public sector experience
- Experience with Datix or similar incident reporting systems
Contract: Interim (3 months) Day Rate: £180 per dayLocation: Sussex (multi-site across East & West Sussex)Hours: 37.5 hours per weekReporting to: Head of Health, Safety & Security
