This is a fantastic opportunity to join Somerset Council as a Health and Safety Coordinator, supporting health and safety arrangements that help protect thousands of employees, volunteers, schools and communities across Somerset. Working alongside experienced health and safety professionals, you'll play an important role in coordinating training, managing information, supporting incident reporting and helping ensure the Council meets its health and safety responsibilities. Role Summary As the Health and Safety Coordinator you will provide essential operational and administrative support to Somerset Council's Health and Safety Service, ensuring health and safety processes, systems and reporting run effectively across the organisation. The role helps promote a strong culture of safety by supporting incident management, compliance monitoring, training coordination and the delivery of health and safety initiatives that protect employees, volunteers, elected members and service users. What you'll do - Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support health and safety administration, reporting processes, meetings, training activities and performance monitoring.
- Manage and analyse health and safety data, incident reports and compliance information to support informed decision-making.
- Act as a first point of contact for health and safety enquiries, providing guidance and triaging reported incidents and assessments.
- Support accident investigations, compliance audits, policy implementation and the monitoring of corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council to embed health and safety best practice and support organisational objectives., Permanent role, 37 hours per week.

- Occasional exposure to sensitive incident reports as part of supporting health and safety across the Council.
Are you passionate about creating safer workplaces and making a real difference to the wellbeing of others?, Experience working in an administrative, business support or office-based role. - Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to deal with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
- Experience handling data and producing accurate information and reports.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- GCSEs (including English and Maths) or an equivalent qualification in Business Administration or Health and Safety.
- Willingness to work towards a NEBOSH General Certificate and IOSH Managing Safely qualification if not already held
