Full Job Description

The Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of a safe, effective, and patient-centred Endoscopy service. Working under the direction and supervision of registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, the post holder will assist in the care of patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, ensuring high standards of care, patient experience, and service efficiency. Patient Care

  • Assist with the admission, preparation, and discharge of patients attending the Endoscopy Unit.
  • Support patients before, during, and after endoscopic procedures, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and wellbeing.
  • Undertake delegated clinical duties, including recording vital signs, patient observations, and specimen collection, in line with competency and local policies.
  • Escalate any concerns regarding patient condition promptly to the registered nurse.

  • Prepare procedure rooms and equipment for endoscopy lists.
  • Assist clinicians and nursing staff during procedures as required.
  • Ensure endoscopy equipment is cleaned, stored, and maintained in accordance with infection prevention and decontamination standards.
