Full Job Description
Come and Join Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, where we offer a wide variety of challenging and rewarding roles within a supportive, innovative and dynamic work environment!
We currently have vacancies for experienced Health Care Assistants to come and join our expanding teams on the Griffin Ward and Belvoir Ward which are Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) wards based at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit.
The role of the HCA will be to work as part of the nursing team and you will support people through their recovery with both their physical health and their mental health needs. We are looking for candidates with prior experience working in a healthcare setting, who is confident in supporting patients with complex mental health needs and is compassionate, caring and confident when dealing with difficult situations.
Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) are specialised wards that provide inpatient mental health care, assessment and comprehensive treatment to individuals who are experiencing the most acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder, where some individuals present with acute distress and maybe an absconding, suicide, or self-harm risk.
Griffin Ward is a 6-bed Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit which has a higher staff to patient ratio compared to most wards which creates a sense of safety and a supportive team environment.
Belvoir Ward is a 10-bed Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit which has a higher staff to patient ratio.
Please note that the Healthcare Support Workers work a rota system of Long Days (11.5 hr shifts) Day and Night covering a 7-day working week. These are predominately FULL TIME ROLES (37.5 hours per week) however if you would prefer a part time opportunity, we are happy to discuss.
Please note that you will need eligibility to work in the UK for a minimum of 23 hours per week AND we do not offer sponsorship for HCA part time or full-time opportunities, therefore you will need to have a visa already allowing you to work these hours within the UK.
These HCA roles are permanent roles not bank roles and candidates will require their own right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer sponsorship. The role requires a strong understanding of risk assessment and risk management, with the ability to follow, implement, and contribute to individualised care plans and risk management strategies in line with Trust policies and procedures.
The post holder must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support effective engagement, contribute to de-escalation and restraint reduction, and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including nursing, medical, and allied health professionals. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver high-quality, safe, and compassionate care in accordance with NHS values, ensuring dignity, respect, and patient-centred care are upheld at all times.
