Health Care Assistant

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, forward thinking Health Care Assistant, preferably with primary care experience, to join the multi-disciplinary team at St Andrews Surgery. The practice team consists of 3 GP partners, Clinical Pharmacist, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Health Care Assistants and a very supportive administration and reception team.

We believe this to be an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant who would like to apply their skills to ensure safe and efficient prescribing in general practice.

The successful candidate will support our clinical team in providing safe, effective, and patient-centred care while promoting health and wellbeing within our local community.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will

a) Record observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight, and BMI.

b) Undertake venepuncture safely and effectively.

c) Carry out ECG recordings.

d) Perform new patient health checks.

e) Administer vaccinations where appropriately trained and delegated.

f) Support long-term condition monitoring clinics.

g) Undertake lifestyle assessments and provide health promotion advice.

h) Chaperone patients during examinations when required.

i) Maintain accurate clinical records using the practice clinical system.

j) Clean, stock, and prepare clinical rooms and equipment.

k) Ensure infection prevention and control procedures are followed.

l) Participate in clinical audits, mandatory training, and quality improvement initiatives.
