At Weston Green School, we believe that sport plays a vital role in shaping confident, resilient and well-rounded children. We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and committed Head of Sport to lead our provision on a part-time basis (three days per week). This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about sport, values inclusive participation, and is equally driven to achieve high standards and competitive success. We are looking for a leader who will act as an ambassador for sport within and beyond the school; someone who can build enthusiasm, raise standards and ensure that every child feels part of the sporting journey., Leadership and Vision
- Lead and develop a clear, ambitious vision for sport at Weston Green School
- Act as an ambassador for the department, promoting sport internally and externally
- Foster a culture that balances inclusive participation with competitive ambition
- Inspire pupils and staff to engage fully in sporting opportunities Team Leadership
- Lead, support and develop a team of sports coaches
- Promote a collaborative and professional team culture
- Provide guidance, feedback and development opportunities for staff Sporting Provision
- Plan and deliver a high-quality, broad and engaging sports programme
- Ensure all pupils have opportunities to participate, develop skills and experience success
- Support the identification and development of both emerging and high-performing athletes Fixtures and Events
- Organise and oversee fixtures, tournaments and sporting events
- Communicate fixtures, team selections and logistics clearly and in a timely manner to all stakeholders
- Build and maintain relationships with other schools and sporting organisations
- Ensure fixtures are well-planned, inclusive and reflect the school's values Operational Responsibilities
- Manage equipment, facilities and resources effectively
- Ensure health and safety standards are upheld at all times
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, events and clubs Professional Responsibilities
- Promote the school's aims, ethos and values at all times
- Contribute positively to the culture and wider life of the school
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the school
- Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice

- Has strong experience in coaching and/or leading school sport
- Is an organised and proactive communicator, able to keep pupils, parents and colleagues well informed
- Is passionate about creating an inclusive sporting environment
- Has the ambition to raise standards and develop competitive opportunities
- Builds positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
- Leads with energy, integrity and a clear sense of purpose This role would suit an experienced coach or teacher looking to take on a leadership role within a supportive and values-driven school.
