About the Role

Join The Elms Academy as our Head of Spanish and shape exceptional learning experiences from KS3 to KS5. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and innovative leader with a proven track record of raising achievement and driving excellence in teaching and learning.

As Head of Spanish, you will provide strategic leadership for the department, ensuring outstanding curriculum design, teaching quality, and student outcomes. You will inspire colleagues, lead innovation, and support the development of high-quality teaching across the department and beyond - striking the right balance between challenge and support while holding others to account for improvement.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide strategic leadership for the Spanish department across KS3-KS5.

· Design and deliver a high-quality Spanish curriculum.

· Raise standards of attainment and progress through effective teaching, assessment, and intervention.

· Use assessment data to monitor progress and drive departmental improvement.

· Promote literacy, reading, and oracy through the Spanish curriculum.

· Provide enrichment opportunities for Spanish outside of the classroom.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

· Hold QTS and a good honours degree in Spanish or a related subject.

· Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge and evidence of excellent student outcomes.

· Have experience in leading a department or team, with a proven ability to drive improvement.

· Be able to inspire and motivate colleagues, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.

· Demonstrate a commitment to raising standards and ensuring every student reaches their full potential.

· Lead by example, inspiring both staff and students through passion and professionalism.
