Full Job Description

Birmingham City Council is seeking an exceptional Head of Service to lead the Younger Adult, Learning Disability & Autism (LD&A) and Physical Disability & Sensory Impairment (PDSI) services through a critical period of redesign and transformation. This is a senior leadership role focused on designing and delivering a new service operating model for Younger Adults. Working closely with health and wider system partners, you will drive the delivery of modern, strengths-based services that are safe, sustainable and outcome-focused. You will provide confident leadership through complex change, balancing innovation with strong operational oversight, safeguarding assurance and performance management. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of a new service operating model.
  • Drive transformation and embed strengths-based practice.
  • Ensure safe statutory delivery with strong governance and safeguarding.
  • Manage performance, demand and budgets.
  • Build strong partnerships across health and the wider system.
  • About You You are an experienced senior leader with a strong track record of leading large services through transformation in complex public sector environments. Essential requirements include substantial LD& A experience at a senior level, proven transformation leadership, strong knowledge of adult social care legislation, and experience managing large teams, budgets and partnerships.
