The opportunity We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join Julia's House as our Head of Retail, leading a transformational phase of growth across our retail estate. Our shops do far more than raise vital income. They are welcoming community hubs, places of connection, generosity and care - and every sale helps us create precious, joyful moments for children with life-limiting conditions and the families who love them. As Head of Retail, you will shape the future of our retail portfolio, building on strong foundations while championing exceptional customer and donor experiences. You'll inspire people, strengthen our brand, and grow sustainable income that directly supports our mission. About the role Our Retail team is an integral part of Julia's House. You'll have strategic and operational responsibility for our growing retail estate of 14 shops across Dorset and Wiltshire, with scope to expand further. This is a senior leadership role with real purpose. You'll balance commercial acumen with compassion, ensuring every decision reflects the impact it has on the children and families we support. Your key responsibilities include: Driving growth
- Delivering sales and profit targets by leading and supporting our Retail Area Managers
- Strengthening the performance of our existing estate through strong foundations and brilliant execution
- Leading the expansion of our retail portfolio, working closely with our Health, Safety and Facilities Manager to open new premises and to work through Retail events which are becoming an increasing part of our offering Strategic leadership
- Building on our customer-focused retail strategy to maximise sustainable income and long-term value for the charity
- Ensuring our shops reflect and enhance the Julia's House brand, values and reputation Team leadership and culture
- Working in partnership with HR and Volunteering to recruit, develop and inspire a high-performing retail team
- Working in close collaboration with our Health, Safety and Facilities manager to ensure that all stores and retail activities meet our expected standards. Champion Health and Safety throughout the retail estate and team.
- Creating a collaborative, inclusive culture where people feel valued, empowered and proud of the difference they make Financial and budgetary management
- Setting and reviewing net contribution targets with retail managers
- Ensuring strong financial discipline while enabling growth and innovation Operational excellence
- Making sure systems, processes and compliance standards are fit for purpose
- Continuously reviewing performance to deliver consistently high standards across the estate
You'll be comfortable working across regions and will maintain a regular presence at our Creekmoor Retail Office. A full driving licence and access to a car for business use are essential. All appointments are subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
Julia's House is an award-winning children's hospice charity dedicated to bringing comfort and care to families across the two counties. Each family we support is unique and so is the care we provide. When a family finds out that their child has a very serious medical condition, which is life-limiting or life-threatening, their world falls apart. Julia's House exists to help these children and their families.
