Head of Research Governance and Study Set-Up

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT) has identified research as a strategic priority and is committed to increasing opportunities for its patients, carers and staff to participate in high-quality research. This Head of Research Governance and Study Set-Up secondment opportunity will provide strategic leadership for all research governance, regulatory compliance, feasibility, contracting and study set-up activities across OHFT. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective, efficient and compliant initiation of research studies across the Trust, supporting the delivery of the Trust's research strategy and delivering against national research objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Main duties of the job You will lead the continuous review, transformation and improvement of research governance and study set-up processes to ensure the organisation meets nationally mandated performance standards, particularly around study set up times, delivering a high-quality service to researchers, sponsors and research participants. Whilst being responsible for monitoring, analysing and reporting performance against national and local research metrics and KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement and supporting organisational readiness for current and future NHS research performance requirements. This will include oversight of metrics such as study set-up performance standards, 150-day study set-up targets, National Objectives Framework (NOF) measures, recruitment performance metrics, and other nationally mandated indicators. You will act as a senior specialist advisor to the Director of Research and Development, Head of Research and Development and Trust leadership on matters relating to research governance, regulatory compliance, study initiation and research performance.

• Higher degree (e.g. Master's or PhD) or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in a relevant field (e.g. Neuroscience, Psychology)., Leadership or management qualification., Significant senior-level experience in NHS research governance, research management or research operations.
• Experience of developing and implementing organisational policies, procedures and performance frameworks.
• Experience of leading large-scale service improvement and transformation programmes., Experience of leading responses to audits or regulatory inspections., Detailed knowledge of NHS research governance requirements.
• Detailed understanding of research sponsorship responsibilities.
• Detailed knowledge of research performance management and national research metrics including (but not limited to) NHS and NIHR., Knowledge of NHS performance reporting systems and benchmarking approaches., Ability to interpret complex regulations and provide specialist advice.
• Strong strategic leadership skills., Advanced data analysis and performance reporting skills.
