Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Head of Quality Improvement to operationally lead the Trust's Quality Improvement portfolio and help embed a culture of continuous improvement across South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. You will provide senior operational leadership to the QI team, support Trust-wide and directorate improvement priorities, and work with clinical, operational and corporate teams to deliver measurable, sustainable improvements in care and outcomes. This is an in-person role. The post holder will be expected to work on sites as required to support teams, services and Trust-wide improvement activity.,
- Lead and deliver the Trust-wide Quality Improvement portfolio, ensuring it aligns with Trust priorities, NHS IMPACT and wider national policy.
- Operationally manage theQI team, including senior QI post holders, staff development, performance and day-to-day delivery.
- Develop, implement and review theTrust-wide QI workplan, including annual priorities, outcome measures and governance reporting.
- Lead assigned QI programmes and improvement collaboratives, ensuring delivery to agreed standards, timescales and benefits.
- Strengthen the use of data and measurement for improvement, including AMAT, run charts, SPC charts, outcomes reporting and impact evaluation.
- Build QI capability across the Trust through training, coaching, communities of practice and support for leaders, managers and frontline teams.
- Act as the Trust's QI method custodian, providing expert advice on improvement methodology, measurement, PDSA, spread and sustainability.
- Promote coproduction with service users, carers and staff as a core part of improvement work.
- Work with senior leaders, directorates, corporate teams and external partners to embed a culture of continuous improvement .
- Contribute to Quality Centre and Improvement Service leadership, including strategy, policy, communication and annual impact reporting.
- Deputise for the Director of Improvement Service when required
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. SLaM employ around 5000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.
