Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Psychotherapy to join Cassel Hospital Inpatient and Outreach Services, part of West London Forensic Services. This is a part-time post (26.25 hours per week), offering the chance to provide senior clinical and operational leadership within a highly specialist psychotherapy service that values reflective practice, depth of formulation, and compassionate care.

The post holder will be a key member of the senior management team, providing leadership to the psychotherapy service, including line management of individual and group psychoanalytic psychotherapists. You will act as a vital link between the Psychotherapy Department and the wider Cassel Hospital leadership team.

You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality services against agreed performance standards, contributing to governance, and supporting the development and implementation of operational policies.

The role also involves representing the service at local, regional, and national level, supervising and supporting clinical practice, and contributing to training and service development.

Main duties of the job

1. To contribute to the leadership responsibility for the clinical governance and operational running of the Cassel Hospital, ensuring risk and operational policies are updated as required.

2. To provide training, support and supervision to clinicians within the department; to provide clinical and line management supervision

3. Provide a specialist psychoanalytic psychotherapy service for patients with severe, complex and persistent mental health needs from a multi-problem background including screening, assessment, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, risk management and referral on to mental health and other services as required.

4. Provide specialist psychotherapy training, supervision, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the formulation and treatment plans of individual patients.

5. To contribute to service performance responsibilities, working with the Trust data and performance team on the submission of data and key performance indicators

6. To represent the service Trustwide

7. Maintain electronic systems for referrals, appointments, activity and outcome monitoring for performance management, including continuous audit and evaluation of service. Support others in use of these systems.
