Full Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational Head of Physics who is passionate about teaching and learning and is dedicated to achieving excellence for all. Leaders across the school play a crucial role in planning a curriculum that is ambitious for students of all abilities. The impact is that all groups of students, including those with SEND, achieve their best. Middle and senior leaders also play a significant role in contributing to whole school improvement. This is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting to take additional responsibility for Physics. You should already have demonstrated excellent leadership and management skills, be committed to inclusion and the well-being of every child and be an outstanding role model in your own professional practice. Candidates must provide leadership and direction for the department and ensure that it is managed and organised to meet school and subject aims and objectives. To provide professional leadership to secure high quality teaching and learning, effective use of resources, improving standards of achievement for all students, and the promotion of students' personal development and well-being. The Head of Physics will play a key role in supporting, guiding and motivating teachers of the subject, evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning, the subject curriculum and progress towards targets for students and staff in order to inform future priorities for the subject. The policy and practice of monitoring within a department provides the information for evaluation and action. The Head of Physics identifies needs in the department and recognises that these needs must be considered in relation to the overall needs of the school. It is also important they understand how their role contributes to school priorities and to the overall education and achievement of all students. Throughout their work, they will ensure that practices improve the quality of education provided, meet the needs and aspirations of all students and help to continue to raise standards of achievement in the school. What we offer:
- An outstanding track record at GCSE, BTEC and A level
- An inclusive school underpinned by our CARE values
