Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide senior leadership to some of Enfield's most visible and important environmental services.

As Head of Parks & Arboriculture, you will provide strategic leadership and direction across Parks Operations, Arboriculture, Parks Infrastructure and associated operational services, ensuring Enfield's parks and green spaces are safe, accessible, sustainable and well managed.

You will lead significant operational services and resources, with responsibility spanning parks and open spaces, arboriculture, highway verge and shrub maintenance, parks infrastructure and Council housing grounds maintenance.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring you to combine strategic thinking with strong operational delivery. You will drive service performance and improvement, manage significant budgets and resources, develop parks infrastructure and assets, provide oversight of tree management and urban forestry, and ensure robust health and safety and statutory compliance.

You will also build strong relationships with residents, community organisations, Friends Groups, elected Members and external partners, while providing professional advice to Directors, Members and Cabinet on parks, green infrastructure and arboricultural matters.

We are looking for an experienced senior leader who can demonstrate:

- Leadership of large and diverse operational services.

- Strong people and performance management.

- Effective management of substantial budgets and resources.

- Delivery of transformation and continuous improvement.

- Experience of parks, green spaces, arboriculture, environmental, public realm, grounds maintenance or related place-based services.

- The ability to operate confidently in a complex political and stakeholder environment.

You will have the opportunity to shape services that make a direct difference to Enfield's communities and environment, while contributing to the Council's wider sustainability, biodiversity, climate and net-zero ambitions.

An excellent pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

- Up to 32 days annual leave depending on grade and length of service. You will also get eight public holidays per year and an extra day off at Christmas.

- A blend of remote and office based working for most roles.

- Interest free season ticket loan repayable over three or ten months.

- Career development and learning experiences from a range of training courses and learning methods.

- Employee Assistance Programme to provide advice and counselling services. This is a free and confidential service available to staff and members of their family.

- Health and leisure discounts and tax-free bikes for work.

- 1 month's paid sabbatical for registered Social Workers working in Children's Social Care.
