Full Job Description
We are seeking an inspiring musician, excellent teacher and thoughtful leader to shape the next chapter of music at Glendower Preparatory School.
Music should be a source of joy, confidence and connection for every girl. Our Head of Music will nurture this through engaging classroom teaching, vibrant singing and ensemble opportunities, and performances that celebrate both individual achievement and the pleasure of making music together. They will combine high expectations with warmth and encouragement, helping beginners discover their musical voice while providing appropriate challenge for our most accomplished musicians.
As a standalone preparatory school, Glendower offers the opportunity to lead a coherent musical journey from the Early Years through to Year 6. The successful candidate will oversee the curriculum, choirs and ensembles, individual instrumental provision and the school's programme of concerts and musical events. They will bring clear artistic direction, strong organisation and a commitment to ensuring that rehearsals and performances are purposeful, polished and enjoyable.
Working closely with colleagues and visiting music teachers, the Head of Music will build a culture in which music is valued, participation is encouraged and talent can flourish. They will also support pupils preparing for examinations, auditions and senior school music scholarships at the best London-day and boarding schools.
This role will suit an accomplished pianist and confident musical director who enjoys working with young children, communicates effectively with families and is ready to make a visible contribution to school life. We welcome applications from experienced subject leaders and excellent music teachers ready to take their next step into leadership.
