Full Job Description

As Head of Information Rights, you will lead UCL's Information Rights team, overseeing the effective handling of freedom of information requests, data subject rights requests, complaints and regulatory engagement. You will provide strategic leadership, manage complex casework, develop policies and guidance, monitor legal and regulatory developments, and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the institution. The role also includes managing and developing a high-performing team, driving continuous improvement, and contributing to the wider leadership and strategy of the Data Protection and Information Rights function. Please note: that this is an internal opportunity available to current UCL employees only.

You will have significant experience leading information rights functions and managing teams handling complex and high-volume requests. You will bring strong knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and related legislation, alongside experience of dealing with regulators and tribunal matters. You will be an excellent communicator with strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. You will also have a proven track record of building collaborative relationships, influencing stakeholders and delivering practical, high-quality advice in a complex environment.
