Full Job Description

Kew House School was established in the conviction that there exists an opportunity for a different kind of independent secondary school in London - academically demanding but with a forward-thinking approach to selection criteria, the flexibility of the curriculum, the shape of the school day, and recognition of creativity and talent. A character-selective school, we pride ourselves on the support and care we extend to our 600 pupils whilst striving to add value to their success in all fields of academia, sport, and creativity. Having successfully grown over its ten years since foundation and recently awarded the ISI "Excellent" grading. Psychology is an incredibly popular A Level choice at Kew House School, expansion in the number of students taking it over the last few years has created a need for more teaching staff.

Curriculum

The post-16 curriculum provision advises students to take appropriate combinations of A Level subjects, plus an EPQ. Students at Kew House School combine A-Level Psychology with a wide range of subjects, including other sciences. The school's aim is to provide a rich and broad education to all students, whatever their specialism. Whilst we aim to achieve the highest academic results for each student, we do not serve as an examination "factory".

Kew House School is seeking to appoint a well-qualified, confident, and enthusiastic individual to join our co-educational Secondary School in West London.

Please note that the Head of Individuals in Society (PSHCE) responsibility is offered in conjunction with one of our current teaching vacancies where possible. Applicants able to teach within one of our current advertised teaching roles will be preferred.

As a thriving, senior school, we have always placed great emphasis on personal development or our pupils. Our "Individuals in Society" course is the curriculum strand that delivers PSHCE, RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) and so much more. For September 2026 we are looking to appoint a forward-thinking Head of Individuals in Society, that oversees the Gardener Award. The Award has five strands which are principally delivered through Individuals in Society but are also interwoven into the broader academic curriculum, our extracurricular club structures, and our enrichment days. The five broad strands of personal development are: Enterprise, Perspectives, Wellbeing, Community, and Creativity. The post will suit someone that wishes to have a significant whole-school impact across the full range of years within the school, liaising closely with SLT via the Deputy Head Pastoral, subject leaders and external agencies.

The school operates its own pay scales which are consistent with national teacher pay scales and will offer salary commensurate with experience and the nature of this role.
