The Council's new Prevention and Communities Directorate is looking for an innovative and inspiring Head of Housing Improvement and Strategy to transform the way we work with local tenants; improving access to the right support, at the right time, and in the right place.

Responsible for the development and delivery of Housing IT systems, policy, strategy, and the customer experience, you will embed a culture of integration and collaboration which puts people and communities at the heart of everything we do. You will be the primary liaison at Head of Service level between the wider Council and the Housing Directorate, ensuring compliance with data governance, and performance reporting. The Head of Housing Improvement and Strategy will be the owner of the action plan to ensure we deliver improved services across all areas for our tenants and leaseholders.

Your next role

On a day-to-day basis, you will lead the strategic and operational management of a diverse range of housing functions, ensuring excellent service delivery, regulatory compliance, tenant engagement, and continuous improvement. You will be accountable for the delivery of a variety of housing management functions; working alongside your peers and with your team managers to ensure services are integrated, fit for purpose and demonstrate good value for money.

This role plays a critical part in supporting safe, sustainable communities, enhancing resident wellbeing, and shaping service delivery in line with both corporate priorities and statutory duties. You will be an active part of the Housing Senior Leadership Team and Prevention and Communities Directorate, delivering our Housing Improvement Plan, and supporting the delivery of corporate strategies, including the Swindon Plan. Leading a diverse range of teams and activities to develop and implement the Council's strategic approach and political priorities in relation to the provision of outstanding landlord services. Promoting innovation, efficiency and customer focus in the delivery of housing management for over 10,000 social homes.

We are looking for someone who has the right behaviours to drive forward a new service area; bringing teams and individuals with them, on a transformation journey; playing to individuals' strengths and recognising diversity.

We are looking for someone who has extensive experience operating at a management level (or above) in Housing, with an appropriate CIH qualification.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer-facing role").
