Full Job Description
The Head of Health, Safety and Security is Sirona's senior specialist lead for health, safety and security, providing strategic leadership, professional advice and assurance to the Executive Lead, senior leadership and relevant governance committees. The post holder will lead the development and implementation of Sirona's organisational Health, Safety and Security framework, ensuring effective systems are in place to identify, assess, manage, monitor and provide assurance against health, safety and security risks across clinical and non-clinical services. The role will provide strategic oversight of a broad portfolio including workplace and premises safety, fire and water safety, security and lockdown, violence and aggression, lone working, moving and handling, respiratory protection and fit testing, workplace equipment, environmental and occupational safety risks, incident investigation and statutory reporting. The post holder will establishclear organisational standards,accountabilitiesand assurance arrangements, ensuring that risks, incidents, audits,inspectionsand compliance information are systematicallyanalysedand reported through Sirona's governance arrangements., Key areas of responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation and review of Sirona's Health, Safety and Security strategy, policies, assurance framework and compliance arrangements.
- Provide organisational leadership and expert advice on statutory, regulatory and best practice requirements relating to health, safety and security.
- Maintain oversight of organisational risks, incidents, investigations, audits, inspections and improvement actions, ensuring appropriate assurance, escalation and organisational learning.
- Lead governance, performance reporting and assurance processes, including delivery of dashboards, annual reporting and support to relevant committees and forums.
- Provide strategic oversight of the Health, Safety and Security portfolio, including premises safety, fire safety, security, lone working, violence prevention, moving and handling, respiratory protection and workplace compliance.
- Promote a positive safety culture through training, communication, professional advice and organisational development.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support organisational objectives and compliance.
- Lead and manage the Health, Safety and Security team, ensuring resources, performance and priorities are aligned to organisational risk and assurance needs.
- Act as a senior leader within the Quality and Safety Directorate and deputise for the Executive Lead as required
Chartered or equivalent health and safety professional with specialist knowledge of UK health and safety legislation. - Significant experience of strategic health and safety leadership in a complex organisation.
- Experience of developing and implementing health and safety strategies, policies and assurance frameworks.
- Senior leadership experience influencing stakeholders and providing assurance at Board or Executive level.
- Excellent analytical, communication and report-writing skills., Knowledge of NHS structures, governancearrangementsand the relationship between clinical,operationaland corporate services.
- Experience of leading and developing teams across a broad specialist portfolio.
- Extensive knowledge of accident and incident investigation, statutoryreportingand organisational learning.
- Experience of analysing incidents, risks,auditsand compliance data to support organisational assurance.
- Strong understanding of governance,assuranceand escalation arrangements., NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, or equivalent higher-level health and safety qualification/experience appropriate to the role.
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, for example occupational safety, risk management or a related field.
- Evidence of recent and ongoing continuing professional and personal development., Chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), or evidence of working towards an equivalent professional standing., Chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), or evidence of working towards an equivalent professional standing.
