Full Job Description

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a high-calibre coach or former player to shape a modern and ambitious football programme that reflects St Edward's commitment to participation, performance, competition and enjoyment for pupils of all abilities.

As Head of Football, you will provide strategic leadership for football across the School, overseeing the continued growth and development of both the boys' and girls' programmes. Working within a well-established sporting environment, you will ensure that coaching standards remain exceptionally high, resources are used effectively and pupils are supported to achieve their full potential both on and off the pitch.

A key aspect of the role will be managing the School's close partnership with Chelsea FC and maintaining relationships with professional clubs and football academies. You will work closely with Chelsea's professional coaching staff, coordinating events, supporting coach and player recruitment, managing communications relating to pupils and helping to strengthen the School's reputation as a centre of football excellence.

Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will play a prominent coaching role, overseeing the development and training of squads across all age groups, from Shells to Seniors.

About you

We are looking for a coach who can combine technical and tactical expertise with the ability to motivate, inspire and support young people in a highly competitive but inclusive sporting environment. You will have previous experience of coaching school-age players and working with elite footballers. You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and external partners. Experience of playing or coaching football at a high-performance level will be essential, along with a genuine passion for developing young athletes and fostering a positive football culture throughout the School.
