Full Job Description

The Head of Financial Improvement will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the Trust's overarching approach to financial sustainability. This will include the use all available information to evaluate, monitor and improve the organisation's use of its resources, supporting the development of a multiyear productivity and efficiency plan. The Head of Financial Improvement will also be responsible for the measurement and reporting of the efficiency programme, working with the finance team and operational services to drive efficiencies which will result in cost improvements across the Trust. Working as a member of the senior finance team, the Head of Financial Improvement will play a key role in production of information for the Assistant Director of Finance, Deputy Director of Finance and Executive Director of Finance, Executive Director of Service Development and Improvement and the wider organisation to ensure successful delivery year on year of a sustainable productivity and efficiency plan., development of the Trust and its clinical services To ensure efficient and effective use of the Trust's resources by providing professional challenge in all scenarios. Where appropriate, involvement in the identification & delivery of projects and initiatives which will deliver financial benefit to the organisation. Provide direct support & advice to Senior Colleagues in Finance in management of the financial improvement agenda, preparing assurance and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders including NHS England/NHS Improvement. To act as representative for the Finance Department where required across the financial improvement agenda, at internal or external forums as agreed, ensuring feedback and communication on any matters arising. The post holder will be expected to act independently, taking timely and at times challenging decisions to ensure the delivery. This will be achieved by supporting and influencing both the clinical divisions and corporate functions., To provide financial support to managers, both outside the Finance Department and staff within the Finance Department, to develop Trust efficiency savings, particularly supporting the Trust wide initiatives. Represent the Trust with external partners and other external agencies and have autonomy to make decisions and act in these discussions/negotiations with the support of senior colleagues in Finance. Lead with the Assistant Director of Finance shaping and implementing the organisations transformation programmes, utilising information to identify opportunities for efficiency savings for the organisation and ensuring these are pursued by the relevant services/group. Use a range of data sources including NHS Benchmarking, SLR, PLICS and Model Hospital to understand and communicate where transformation opportunities lie.

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
