Head of Finance - Groundworks & Civil EngineeringRedditch | Office-BasedLead. Influence. Take full ownership. This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned finance leader to step into a Head of Finance role within a well-established, growing groundworks and civil engineering business. You'll take full ownership of the finance function, working closely with the Directors to shape strategy, improve performance, and drive commercial decision-making across the business. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit back and report numbers - you'll be at the heart of the business, influencing outcomes and adding real value.The RoleAs Head of Finance, you will:
- Lead and develop a finance team of 6
- Take ownership of: + Management accounts + Budgeting and forecasting + Cashflow and working capital
- Provide meaningful commercial insight to senior leadership
- Oversee VAT, CIS, and statutory compliance
- Drive improvements in systems, processes, and controls
- Partner with operational teams to support project performance
What We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who can hit the ground running in a construction environment, ideally: - Background in groundworks or civil engineering (essential)
- Strong understanding of CIS and contract accounting
- Proven experience in a Head of Finance / Financial Controller role
- Experience managing and developing teams
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, owner-managed business Qualifications are welcome but not essential - proven experience in the sector is more important.Why This Role?
