Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join the team at Oasis Academy Sholing in September 2026 or January 2027

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and dynamic Head of Music to lead the continued development of our music curriculum and wider extra-curricular provision. We are ambitious about raising the profile of music and increasing participation across the academy.

This role includes responsibility for organising and developing our extra-curricular music opportunities, including the coordination of peripatetic music teachers, alongside delivering a high-quality and engaging curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. Leading and developing our KS4 BTEC students further.

The successful candidate will play a key role within our collaborative Creative Arts Team, working closely with colleagues in dance, drama and art to contribute to and lead on the musical elements of school productions and performances, providing enriching opportunities for students to showcase their talents and engage with the arts beyond the classroom.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and creative leader to take on a small department, with the autonomy to shape and grow the subject, broaden student participation and strengthen the impact of music across the school.

Our offer to you

When you join the Sholing family there are a significant number of benefits that make us stand out as an employer of choice. These include but are not limited to:

· An exceptional CPD offer, weekly Academy-wide and department-based CPD and termly Trust-based CPD.

· A pre-planned, fully resourced, Trust-wide curriculum with the autonomy to adapt for your students.

· A streamlined, personalised feedback and assessment policy, created to minimise staff workload and maximise student progression.

· The opportunity to undertake fully-funded National Professional Qualifications.

· Access to an iPad for all staff and students enabling the use of Formative and other online self-marking assessment resources.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.

· Support to balance your work/life/caring responsibilities via our flexible working, sunshine days, two week autumn half terms and sabbatical opportunities.

· Access to Eye Care vouchers, national Cycle to Work and hybrid car schemes.

· Access to Health Shield Cash Plan which can include 24/7 access to a GP, assistance with the cost and access to dental treatment, eye-care, physiotherapy, and chiropody.

· Confidential Counselling services for you and those that live with you, should times get tough.
