Full Job Description
This is a pivotal time of transformation at Southampton City Council, with an ambitious programme underway in our newly formed Resident Services Directorate. As Head of Clean and Green Services, you will drive the operational delivery, commercial growth, and strategic development of the Council's Clean and Green services. The role will focus on maximising revenue opportunities, forging strong partnerships, and ensuring the efficient and sustainable delivery of high-quality services across various operations, including street cleansing, grounds maintenance, pest control, arboriculture, golf cluster management, and play and landscape development.,
- Lead the development and delivery of a commercial strategy to grow income, reduce costs, and drive innovation.
- Manage operational performance across Clean and Green services, ensuring legal compliance and service excellence.
- Promote best practice and continuous improvement in areas such as sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
- Act as the Council's Transport Manager, ensuring full compliance with all vehicle use and transport legislation.
- Build long-term partnerships with public and private sector organisations, and oversee robust contract and stakeholder management.
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader with a passion for delivering high-quality, sustainable public services and a strong commercial mindset. You will need: - A degree in commercial services, public administration, or a related field (master's preferred).
- Significant experience in a senior commercial or operational leadership role within environmental or local authority services.
- A proven business development, contract management, and commercial innovation track record.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire, develop, and manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in both public and private sectors.
