Head of Business Operations - INTERNAL ONLY

The Head of Business Operations is a senior member of The Dickson Poon School of Law Professional Services Senior Management team, responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of the faculty's business support function and overseeing the effective delivery of a portfolio of services including; Finance, HR, compliance, executive support, H&S, Estate, project management, process development and improvements. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the post holder will ensure the delivery of efficient, responsive and high quality professional services that support the School's strategic ambitions and operational priorities.
The post holder will play a key role in a period of significant organisational development, support the implementation of the School's new departmental structure, strengthen workforce planning, drive Estate improvements and embed a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. They will manage operational change initiatives and work closely with academic and professional services colleagues to ensure successful delivery of key priorities.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and organised leader with excellent communication and influencing skills, a collaborative and diplomatic approach and a proven ability to deliver results in a complex environment. The post is being offered on a 12-month fixed term contract and could be a secondment opportunity.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) being offered on a 12-month fixed term contract, or secondment. This is a hybrid working role where the role-holder will be on-campus for a minimum of 2 days a week, in line with King's hybrid working policy., To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience, 1. Substantial experience in leading business operations and professional services functions within a large and complex organisation.
2. Significant experience of leading and managing teams, fostering high performance, accountability and continuous improvement.
3. Proven experience of leading organisational change and successfully implementing new ways of working across diverse stakeholder groups.
4. Experience of workforce planning, resource management and organisational design, ensuring resources are aligned to operational strategic priorities.
5. Strong financial management and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting and the use of data to support decision making.
6. Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior academic, professional services and external stakeholders.
7. Demonstrable experience of leading complex projects and operational improvement initiatives, delivering outcomes to agreed timescales.
8. Highly organised, solution focused, exercising sound judgement and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of working in higher education.
2. Experience in applying technology to enhance working practice, for example: developing analytic reports, PowerBI dashboard, automation.
